The formation of the American Kenpo Karate International
(AKKI) came as a result continual urging from Paul
Mills senior students to create an association that
values innovation and creativity.
The question to form a new association was asked
at the September 1997 Las Vegas
camp. After
a unanimous
vote by the attending school owners, the decision
was made to form a new association.
The AKKI was formed with the following
goals, ideals, and standards in mind:
- To streamline, enhance and evolve the art of American
Kenpo through innovation based on Mr. Parker’s
example
- To have an association that collectively seeks
mental, physical, emotional and spiritual growth and
development
- To maintain a high standard of proficiency and
knowledge for those that test for rank
- To provide regular opportunities to learn new innovations
in the art of American Kenpo
- To provide a culture of forward thinking,
innovation and open mindedness — never settling
on doing things just for the sake of tradition
The AKKI is the only American Kenpo organization
that only allows single Kenpo association membership
and
is still
one of the largest American Kenpo organizations in
the world today.
Our emphasis on innovation and creativity has set
us apart
from those still teaching American
Kenpo the way it was in 1990. Much has changed since
Mr. Parker's passing and we're on the forefront of
keeping up with that change. |
